Here are some juicy bits of information you’ve been itching for. Thanks to the cast of the Episode Eight who unveiled all the deets in a special Star Wars: The Last Jedi panel during the annual Star Wars convention Star Wars Celebration in Orlando. This little “something” will keep you flipping your calendar until 15 December 2017.

1. Carrie Fisher’s performance will make you feel feelings

Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, said during the panel of the late Carrie Fisher’s iconic role as General Leia Organa in the film: ‘The performance she ends up giving, you guys are going to find that an amazing tribute to her talent.“ Tissues at the ready.”

2. There will be lots of bb-8 in this movie

Rian Johnson revealed, “The best advice I got was, ‘You cant have enough BB-8.’ He’s the Buster Keaton of this movie.” We can’t wait for more droid LOLs from the cheeky little unit.

3. The first order will get killer straight away

After the loss of Star Killer base in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, what does that mean for The First Order? With the galaxy left in chaos, says Rian Johnson, the First Order are taking advantage, “They’re making some big moves at the start of the film. Things are going to get dire.”

4. A new character is joining the rebellion

Kelly Marie Tran will play Rose: a maintenance worker who is part of the resistance “I can’t wait for you to meet her,” said the actor at the panel for The Last Jedi.

Rian Johnson added, “She’s pretty rad.  For me growing up, I was watching Luke Skywalker be this unlikely hero – the notion that anyone can step out of where they are and become a hero – Rose isn’t a soldier, she’s not looking to be a hero. She gets pulled into this adventure with Finn and Kelly just embodies that.”

5. Rey could be Luke’s daughter after all???!!!!

Speaking on the panel hosted by Josh Gad, who voices Olaf in Frozen, Kathleen Kennedy, Rian Johnson and Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill looked to his fellow stars and said, “I look around and I see Olaf, Wonder Woman (Kennedy), God (Johnson),” and then jokingly added, “My daught– I mean my colleague, Daisy!”

Don’t do this to us, Skywalker!

6. Mark Hamill has written his own backstory for Luke Skywalker

Hamill revealed, “In Episode 7, you discover Luke is a hermit on this island and there’s so much unsaid about where he’s been and what he’s done.”

“Actors like to write their own backstories… I made it up myself and tried to show it to JJ Abrams, but he basically patted me on the head, gave me a cookie and made me go away.”

7. And we might not get more detail about what he’s been up to after all this time

“He’s an important part to the overall arc of the saga, and there’s a lot of mystery around him, even within the film, so you have to make up your own backstory,” said Hamill.

8. But Luke *will* be a major part of Episode 8

Kathleen Kennedy promised at Star Wars Celebration that Luke Skywalker will be crucial to the movie, “He is so significantly important to this next film”. Of course, he’s the focus of the newly unveiled teaser poster. THE MYSTERY! WE CAN’T COPE!

9. Carrie Fisher worked on rewriting the script

Writer–director Rian Johnson revealed that as well as starring in the new movie, Carrie Fisher worked on rewriting the script with him: “I love her so much man, and I connected with her first and foremost as a writer.”

“She’s a brilliant writer with an incredible mind. I’d go to her house and we’d sit on her bed for hours going through the script, and we’d have these stream of consciousness, jazz poetry-style ad lib sessions and at the end of it we’d have this four word line of dialogue which was the distillation of that.”

10. Rey meeting Luke might be a disaster

‘I actually can tell you some things,” Daisy Ridley teased some details of what will happen in the new movie, after Rey meets Luke at the end of The Force Awakens, “In The Last Jedi we go deeper into Rey’s story.”

“What is very apparent from where we left off is Rey has a certain expectation as to what she might be getting from Luke and what that might entail… and as many people know, it’s difficult when you meet your heroes as it might not be what you expect,” revealed Ridley,  “That’s quite a lot right?”

11. Finn will recover!

John Boyega revealed that our fave ex-stormtrooper will be on the mend after his injuries in The Force Awakens, “Finn definitely stood up for himself and caught an injury to the back. He’s recovering… He’s not playing this time!”

12. And he has a big choice to make

John Boyega explained,”Finn wants to find his place now. Is he going to be a part of the resistance or is he going to keep running away from the First Order?”

13. Shipping Finn & Poe will be better than ever

The Force Awakens gave us one of our fave cinema bromances evs, between Finn and Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron. When asked if their relationship will continue to blossom, John Boyega said, “Absolutely. Poe’s my boy. There’s always a new adventure for them to go on.” We’re counting down the days until December already!
